He's always been faithful

This morning I went to an interview. It went well, and now I'm playing the waiting game again until there's an opening (which I'm told happens regularly). Suddenly, the prospect of working in a really big office (at State Farm) becoming more and more real. And for some reason, I'm excited. Two other realizations happened this morning: 1) some people in HR, like the two I met this morning, are delightful people. 2) I think I'm starting to understand a little better what faith really means. For years I've believed that God has been and always will be faithful. And for years I've stressed and worried about events, relationships, and hardships that were beyond my control. Inevitably, I would see God come through in a situation and my faith would be restored, my fears would relax, and I would tell myself that I didn't need to worry - God had things under control. And he does. But this morning, I realized that I was actually exercising faith. I was trusting the outcome of my interview to God's plan and timing rather than worrying and feeling like world would fall apart if things didn't go as I wanted them to. Not that I was 100% at ease, or exercised faith perfectly - but I'm taking steps in the right direction. Again, I can say that God has been faithful in that he is the one growing my faith: it's not in my nature to trust like that.

I watched The Social Network a couple nights ago. It's not often that I'm impressed by a movie, but I was by this one. Not all of the content is great (college students + alcohol = crazy sketch), but the story itself was truly fascinating.

I had to laugh at myself last night. I was looking at Heartland's (my local community college) list of online classes, and I've already picked out a few I want to take this spring - in addition to Spanish, the GRE and work. Eek. I think this is the nerdy student in me that always wants to be learning something new.

P.S. My blog reminds me of an ADD variety show. That's how we do it.
P.P.S. I made home-made french fries for the first time last week. They were tasty.
