After over a year of absense, I've finally come back to this blog. You couldn't tell that I'd ever been her before, though: I erased all my previous posts. I got an interesting comment on one of them and realized that more people were reading my blog than I was aware of. Not that that's a bad thing - on the contrary, I'm glad to know that there are people out there reading my blog and being exposed to my views. But, I'm soon going to start rambling, so I'd better move on. ;-)
Mom and 'the guys,' are out at Holly Brian's (the market garden) today. They'll be out there until this evening, when they head out to Carlock with Dad to pick up the Co-op order. So, that leaves me here with Sarah, Johnna and a load of school work. I do enjoy these days. They are calm - unless we're talking about "nap time" - and I'm generally able to do things when I'd like and the way I'd like. Still have a bunch of school work to finish this afternoon, but so far all of my subjects have pretty enjoyable. I'm doing Latin and Greek word roots, Algebra 2, Piano, British Lit., American Lit., creative writing, Egyptian history, Greek history, world lit., biology and chemistry. Thankfully, I'm not doing all of those this week. ;-)
Mom, Dad, Will, Sarah, Roger, Leah and I went to a Fernando Ortega concert this past Saturday night. I expected to have a fairly good time - and was therefore completly blown away with how enjoyable the whole evening was. *sigh* One of the best nights I've had in a long time. Roger and Leah came over Saturday afternoon and we all had dinner and dessert together. They brought blackberry cobbler and ice cream. *Yum* I've always thought a good dessert was the perfect start to a wonderful evening. Anyway, after eating we headed out to the Methodist church the concert was to be held at. It was very large and beauiful (actaully, it had recently been renovated and this concert was a part of its rededication.) After a few short messages from the pastor, the local radio sponor, and the church member responsible for Fernando's appearance, the concert got under way with a peppy tune.
It was a night of well written music sung by a man with one of the most soothing voices I have ever heard. The shocker of the night, though, was the fact that Fernando has one of the most enjoyable, humerous, and fascinating personalities. And his faith is very genuine, that's for sure. It's funnay, actually... he grew up as a Presbyterian, converted to the Pentacostal church, then became a Southern Baptist, and finally converted back to the Presbyterian church. LOL. It was a rather humerous story. More funny, though, is the story of how his two cats - Peppy and Loui - almost got killed by a local coyote one night... resulting in an "inspirational" song he put together in anticipation of their deaths. LOL. It brings tears of laughter to my eyes just remembering how he told the story. *sigh* Sadly, it's too long to write about here.
Well, I'd better go. I still have a couple hours of school left to finish.
Megan
