The Joys of Winter

This cold, snowy season has begun as it usually does: my siblings outside playing in the snow everyday, lots and lots of hot chocolate, several unique choir performances, many a meal of roast turkey and stuffing... and the list of traditions goes on. Let me expound upon "several unique choir performances", though:

We'd had a performance scheduled for December 13th at Eastland Suites in Bloomington, IL for weeks, and everything up till 15 minutes before we were to 'go on stage' seemed to be going fine. Mr. Lusk (our choir director) was late - but then Mr. Lusk was usually late. *smile* Everything was going on as normal until we heard, while waiting for Mr. Lusk to finally arrive, that there would be *no piano* in the room we would be performing in. Devastating, to be sure, yet we could do nothing but face our circumstance head-on. Our gorgeous music would have to be sung a capella. Which wouldn't have been too terrible, if it hadn't been for the fact that Mr. Lusk arrived just minutes before they called us in to perform. By this point, I think we were all beyond 'frazzled'. We didn't even have time to order ourselves before we entered the room we were to perform in - we just walked in and tried to arrange ourselves as best we could. *sigh* To make matters worse, we only had 15 minutes to perform instead of the half hour we had thought we were going to have. Yikes! And given the morning Mr. Lusk had had (poor man!), he wasn't in the best place - mentally, at least - to deal with these challenges. But, amidst this trail (as it certainly seemed to us the time *laughs*), we persevered and were able to give a great performance. I give high marks to Mr. Lusk, as well as our outstanding soprano soloist, and a good friend of mind in the alto's section (you know who you are :-)) who turned lemons into lemonade and made our performance what it was. Have I mentioned yet that we have another performance scheduled for today? *laughs* I wonder what today will bring....

Well, life is calling and I feel like I ought to go on to other things this morning, so I'll write more later.

Twala!
